SVFT is a local chapter of the California Federation of Teachers(CFT) which is a state chapter of the American Federation of Teachers(AFT). The AFT is one of 56 national and international unions that comprise the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations(AFL-CIO).

There are several “units” within SVFT:

• SVFT – Active teachers in SUHSD’s twelve 7-12 schools, including our own substitutes.

• USTU – the United Substitutes Teachers Union

• SCESD​

• AUSD

 

SVFT is also an affiliate of the Monterey Bay Central Labor Council, which is “the local body of the AFL-CIO. We are a membership organization serving as a coalition of the Labor Community in Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. Over 60 unions are affiliated with the MBCLC, representing more than 30,000 union members and their families.” (from the “About Us” page of their website.)
